LINDSEY’S RANDOM WEEKLY DIATRIBE…HUG THOSE BABIES TIGHT!
Happy Tuesday loves!! I hope everyone has had a great start to their week. Has anyone else thought it was Wednesday all.day.long? I swear I have tried to take out the trash twice today (trash pickup is on THURSDAY). Even with this slow week, today was a good day. I was supposed to be in Mobile this week for work, but because of a last minute “emergency” meeting tomorrow in Memphis, I had a change of plans. So, I was working from home today. Unfortunately/fortunately, Mini was also home. Yesterday, he woke up with a 104.7 degree fever and was so so sick. It ended up just being an ear infection, but a fever like that will really scare a mama! None of us have slept the past couple nights (hence, the sleepy eyes in these pictures), but the cuddles made the lack of sleep ore bearable. Yesterday, he took a 6 hour nap…glad we paid $12.50 an hour for the nanny to watch him sleep. 😉 Now I don’t know about you guys, but in my book, that’s a decent night’s sleep, not a nap! Last night, we put him down for bed close to his regular time, but around 1am, he started to cry. More like scream. So, I went into his room and tried to rock him to sleep. The night prior, he slept in the bed with us, something I said I would NEVER EVER do. I remember when he was a newborn, I was pretty strict with our scheduling. I basically created my own version of Baby Wise. Down at 7, up at 7…no excuses. And absolutely no co-sleeping. It’s funny how your body and mind are so different during those early months. It’s like I was a super hero or something, functioning perfectly fine on limited to no sleep with long days in between. Well, now, hell no. If I don’t have sleep, I am useless or I get pneumonia (more on that HERE). And the irony…back then I was on maternity leave and didn’t necessarily have to be able to function. Now I am managing a very large business for work full time times 3, running a blog, chasing after a 9 month old, and trying to keep the house in some sort of order. ANYWAYS, back to my original point. If Asher wakes up in the middle of the night, it is much easier to just scoop him up and put him in our bed than to spend hours trying to get him back to sleep. Well, when he woke up this morning at 1am, all he wanted to do was play, cuddle, and kiss. I laid him down next to me, and he affectionately pulled my hair to get closer to me to give me a kiss. And another kiss. And another kiss. Total MELT. I finally put him back to bed and managed to get maybe two hours of sleep. So, we kept him home from school one more day. Although I had a super hectic day, hearing him playing with our nanny in the other room put a permanent smile on my face. I feel like I miss so much traveling each week for work, so it was very precious to me to get a glimpse into his day to day life during the week. It’s the little things, you guys. Hug your loves a little tighter tonight, just because you can! Geez, now on to the real post.
THE GUS MAYER CHAMPAGNE SALE aka MY ORIGINAL REASON FOR THIS POST
As you guys know, I collaborate with Gus Mayer A LOT. I absolute love our partnership. I have become friends with the fabulous ladies that work there, they have amazing brands, and I feel like I am supporting a local business. Well, guess what? It is time for their Annual Champagne Sale! WHOO HOO! In preparation for the big sale, Brittany pulled a bunch of pieces for me. Now, it was time to get creative. I had recently spent way too much money on a pair of YSL sneakers. AND I am loving all things 90’s right now. Chokers, fringe jeans, sneakers, grunge, the whole 9. So, I thought, I will create two looks, featuring pieces that are part of the Champagne Sale. In part one of my two posts, I am showing this AH-MAY-ZING staple. Normally, $79, on Thursday, between 4pm and 5pm, it is on sale for $29!!!! And between 5 and 8, it is still only $39!!!!! Ok, I know what you are thinking. Why do I need a baby pink sleeveless button up? Ok, I will give you the reasons. 1) It is Rose Quartz, the 2016 Pantone Color of the year and so on trend. 2) Look how versatile this shirt is. I took a sweet, baby pink button up shirt and totally transformed it Lindsey-style. 3) It’s $29, which means it is basically free. Here are more deets about the sale…

THE 90’S CALLED…THEY WANT THEIR FASHION BACK
So, now onto the outfit. The 90’s are BACK, bigger than ever. Although I was born in the 80’s, I feel like I left my heart in the decade known for grunge rock, chokers, and Doc Maartens. And what about plaid skirts and thigh high socks ala Clueless! I. love. it. all. When I was challenged with styling this top, Brittany and I instantly thought of my new YSL sneaks. I had JUST ordered this choker and wanted to mix designer with affordable. First of all, this choker is $8.50. This shirt is $29-$39, depending what time you get to the sale. And these jeans are super soft and worth the moola (that fray hem though)! See how I totally justified my YSL sneaks??? It’s all about balance, right? This is a perfect example of how you mix designer with affordable. And it works. I have to admit, in the past, I have not been a very good “sale” or “budget” shopper. BUT, I have improved dramatically over the years. Here is a tip…probably the most important tip: Look at the sale item. How will you work it into your wardrobe and make it “you?” There is nothing worse than purchasing a discounted item, simply because it is on sale. It’s not saving money if you never wear it.
As always, thank so much for reading!! Make sure you follow me (mainly cute videos of Asher) on Snapchat: lifelutzurious. I hope this post inspired you to think outside the box a little. Grab something out of your closet that you haven’t worn in awhile to create a new look. As always, feel free to run your ideas by me, and I will be glad to help you style your look. Have a great week, and I hope to see my Birmingham folks at the Champagne Sale on Thursday!
In partnership with Gus Mayer, I was compensated for this post. However, all opinions are my own. xoxo
