WORK IT GIRL

Happy Thursday guys (and technically it’s Friday now, but I found out today that this outfit is  MAJORLY on sale, so I HAD to update this post)! I started this post while en route to Tampa for my second work trip of the year.  And I am just now finishing it.  Yeah, it’s time to work it girl. I have to admit, this time leaving was a little tougher than last. On my first trip, I was excited to see my coworkers, and I was energized to get back out there and kick some butt. The excitement tends to wear off a little, and you have to mentally prepare yourself to get on that plane and go make a difference. I stopped by Asher’s school on the way to the airport to give him a big hug and a kiss. He was snoozing away like a precious prince. I gave him a little kiss and headed out the door. As I was leaving, he woke up. I ran over and scooped him up as quickly as I could. He smiled and hugged me so tightly! He is my WHY; he is why I work so hard; he is what motivates me to be the best that I can be. So yes, it was tough to leave him, but I know it’s harder on me than it is on him. And I know how much fun he had with Ryan while I was gone.  Ryan does a great job of sending me a LOT of pictures.  And let me tell you, Asher was FULL of smiles the whole time…I mean did you even miss me Buddy?  Boys week was clearly a success…thankful for such a hands on hubby!

As moms, we are faced with tough decisions everyday. When I tell people I travel a lot for work, I receive a lot of mixed responses. Some are shocked that I would leave my Mini. Others give me a high five and say way to go Mom! A lot of times, I get a big hug and an “I’m sorry.” But this is my choice. This is choice that we have made for our family and for Asher. I want him to see his momma working hard and chasing her dreams, because I know I am not suited to be a stay at home mom. Ryan and I are very fortunate to have such an amazing support system that allows us to have a dual income family. Will I miss moments? Unfortunately, yes. Will I crave his infectious personality? Absolutely…I literally die over his adorable expressions and silly antics. Would I do anything to nurse him to sleep after a long day? Yep, it’s one of the things I miss most about being on the road.  There are definitely trade offs to having a career and being a mom. It’s funny…both Asher and I have this fear of missing out. It’s crazy that we already see this trait in him. And now I find myself fearing I am missing out on his life. HOWEVER, I love my job; I love the patients that our products help; and most importantly, I love my sales team. And I get to travel to some really cool places and meet some really interesting people.  A great week in Tampa with one of my sales consultants validated my thoughts even more…I am confident I am doing exactly what I should be doing.  But goodness this flight can’t get to BHM soon enough!

Damn this post started out as a fashion post, and ended up more like a diary entry! Ha So thanks for letting me get all EMO on you…hashtag hormones (can I still use that as an excuse?).  Anyways, working moms, stay at home moms, working wives/girlfriends/sisters, non-working women, working dads, stay at home dads…we all make sacrifices and have our reasons for being bad ass women and men. Hopefully, we can inspire each other, support each other, and motivate each other to do something BIGGER. Whether it’s charity work, running your household, or being a #girlboss, know that you are impacting someone’s life and you are doing a damn good job. And in the meantime, let’s all look good doing it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this outfit. The gray, the suede, and the fit of these pants…I die. If you guys have followed the blog, you have seen me wear Urban Zen several times. For this look, I partnered with Gus Mayer in Birmingham.  Full disclosure on Urban Zen: it is very expensive. BUT YALL THIS OUTFIT IS ON MAJ SALE RIGHT NOW!  Originally the pants were $1495 and are now on sale for $450.  The jacket was originally $2495 and is now $750.  Let me repeat that.  You can purchase a $2500 jacket for $750.  Y’all, I die.  You can call Brittany at Gus Mayer at 205-870-3300 or email her at [email protected] to purchase.  Also, hopefully this will give you some inspiration on what to wear to the interview for your dream job, to that meeting to land the biggest client of your career, OR that surprise date night you have been putting off for months. I pair this outfit with my FAVORITE Louboutin spikes. However, if I was wearing this out in the field with my sales reps, I would rock some pointy toe nude flats, such as THESE (only $45…ok ordering now actually) or THESE. Perfection and comfort. Let’s talk about this handbag.  This fall I partnered with Flying Fox for their #travelfoxy campaign.  This bag traveled ALL over the United States and was carried by some BIG TIME bloggers.  Why they chose me, I have no clue. 😉  It’s the COLE Tote, and it is amaze.  It is sleek and stunning but also very practical.  Here’s the full look.  Now call Brittany, and TGIF!  I am beyond ready for my Friday night bourbon cocktail.  Have a great weekend!
