Happy Tuesday y’all! I hope everyone had the chance to read yesterday’s post about being INTENTIONAL (if not, you can read it HERE). It feels great to be able to put the pen to the paper again (or should I say fingers to the keyboard). I really enjoyed reading your comments and messages about how yesterday’s post inspired you, gave you motivation to start the week, or provided you with an opportunity to reset and refocus. We are all in this crazy life together, so we might as well motivate each other to BE better.
As you guys know, Valentine’s Day is this weekend. I am not sure how I feel about this “holiday.” While I do love an excuse to celebrate anything (wine me, dine me!), sometimes I feel like the actual celebration of this “holiday” is like amateur hour…the Superbowl of romance, if you will. Restaurants increase their prices and serve the most pitiful prix fix meals ever; Hallmark creates thousands of cards simply to boost sales during the dead of winter; and wives end up getting pissed when their hubbies forget (seriously, you know it’s true). In fact, I wonder how many people end up breaking up the day AFTER V-Day…it’s like V-Day B-Day. And if you are single, it is a constant reminder of what you are (or are not) missing out on. BUT on the flip side, why NOT celebrate the ones you love? Pick up some almost dead flowers from Public because you forgot to pre-order them, grab a sweet card that speaks those words that you would never say out loud, or drink too much wine together (I am all about this personally). Or hell, get decked out and have an adult coloring book party while watching horror movies. What if you turned that into a drinking game? Drink every time someone runs upstairs to escape the murderer. But whatever you do, make sure you look fabulous doing it.
Long ago I ditched the “no white after Labor Day rule,” because that is just plain silly. This outfit is PERFECT for Valentine’s Day…whether you want to look hot for your date or for GNO. I am OBSESSED with Jonathan Simkhai right now…his stuff is oh so fab. About this outfit…I love a pencil skirt, and the white just says WOW! Pair with a pair of pointy toe booties to add some sass, and voila, you are all set. And how amazing are these pieces of jewelry by Jenny Bird? I die. PS, SHOPBOP has Amazon Prime shipping, so you have plenty of time to order in time for the big celebration of love or cynicism. I will tag some similar outfits at the end of the post. Asher’s 6 month birthday is Sunday, so we will be sharing his FIRST MEAL of delicious cinnamon sweet potatoes, while mom and dad celebrate making it 6 months with a new baby over a glass or 3 of wine. So…HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY loves!!! As always, outfit details are listed below. Don’t forget to follow me on INSTAGRAM!
