Wedding season is still in full swing, and I know many of you probably have plans to attend a wedding this summer. I feel like shopping for a wedding can be tricky, especially because there are so many different factors to consider. Before you know it, you’re scrambling to find a dress last minute, or digging through your closet to wear something old. Not this year, ladies!! Since summer is around the corner, I put together a ton of different summer wedding guest attire so you’re ready to celebrate all of the upcoming nuptials.
When picking attire to wear to a wedding, don’t forget these important factors to consider before clicking ‘Place Order’…
- The wedding’s dress code. As we know, there is a big difference from cocktail attire to black tie. Make sure to check the dress code so you’re prepared for whatever dress the couple is expecting.
- The weather. This might seem obvious, but summer weddings can be HOT, especially if events are taking place outside. Select attire that reflects the weather so you’re comfortable throughout the event. I also don’t just mean what you’re wearing – I’m also talking accessories! For example, if it’s going to be super hot, bring a small, chic fan to cool yourself off. If it’s going to get chilly, plan to bring a wrap or light jacket that matches your outfit.
- The bridesmaid’s colors. This isn’t a huge deal, but I always like to be in the know on what color the bridesmaids are wearing. Of course, you never wear white to a wedding (unless directed) but it’s also not the most ideal to show up in the exact colors the bridesmaids are wearing either! This might not matter to some, but for me, I like to steer away from the color and shades that match the wedding party.

What I do love about summer weddings is that they are the perfect opportunity to wear a fun print or bright color! Because the weather also tends to be hot, the sky really is the limit with different styles, cutouts, silhouettes, and more. A short dress is also fun if the dress code permits, or try a midi dress with a sassy slit up the side! Here are a few dresses I’m really loving for summer weddings…
Asymmetrical Gathered Maxi Dress: The silky fabric of this maxi dress is gorgeous and I love the rose color for summer weddings! What really made me love this dress though is the cutout and slit. Sometimes, it can be hard to find a dress with the combination of the two that is still appropriate for a wedding, but this dress does it SO well.
Tiered Tulle Gown: If you’re attending a black tie wedding, this tulle gown is GORGEOUS. I really like this because it’s different than what you always see at weddings- it’s unique but still super tasteful, chic, and fun.
Lace Midi Dress: I love lace, and I think this dress is the perfect way to do it for summer. A bright color, thicker lace, the tiered detail… it’s all working together to create a chic silhouette that would look amazing on every body type!
Strapless Floral Maxi Dress: If strapless is your favorite style, I think this dress would be the perfect piece for a summer wedding. The subtle floral print is gorgeous and allows a dress with an ivory base to be appropriate for a wedding guest. I also love the low-back style that has draping that looks like it would be so flattering.
Here are a few dress options under $100, too!

Once you have your dress picked out, it’s all about the accessories! Since I like to opt for a more colorful dress for summer weddings, I always like to keep my accessories on the neutral side so the dress can be the star of the look. That doesn’t mean you can’t make things fun with a little metallic or a textured bag to spice things up! Here are a few accessories you can’t go wrong with, and that will continue to be in your wedding guest arsenal year after year…
Nude Strappy Heel: These heels couldn’t be more versatile! They are $150 and would work with literally any dress (and would look great with casual looks after the wedding, too!). I also like that the heel isn’t too high so you’re comfortable throughout the entire celebration. You can’t go wrong with these!
Gold Rope Shoulder Bag: This bag is the perfect example of how to keep things neutral but still wear a piece that is fun and unique. The rope detail is just beautiful and would look amazing paired with gold jewelry.
Bubble Clutch: Another fun, neutral bag I love for weddings is this bubble clutch. It’s an easy way to bring in some texture to your look and is the perfect size to hold the essentials.
Clear and Gold Sandal: If you want to add a little metallic into your footwear, these clear and gold-heeled sandals are the way to go. At $118, they are a budget-friendly option that you can easily reach for again and again for future events.
