Summer Glow Makeup Routine

I love playing with makeup and trying out new products, but I have to say my favorite makeup look is a natural, glowy look. During the spring and summer months, I tend to keep my makeup a little lighter and really focus on making my skin look radiant and healthy. There are SO many different makeup products out there, I know it can be easy to get overwhelmed and not know what to invest in and try out!

I wanted to share my summer glow makeup routine if you’re looking for something glowy, natural, and a good go-to for day or night. Read on for my step-by-step process and don’t miss this video tutorial where I show you exactly how I do it!

Step 1: Prime

I always like to prime my skin before I put any makeup on and this always helps my makeup stay on longer. I love that there are so many different primers for different functions, but my favorite primer is this Laura Mercier Illuminating Primer. It gives such a natural glow that lays under makeup beautifully. It’s also super lightweight on the skin which I love!

Step 2: Base

Next is the base. This is where I’d typically put on foundation, but for my lighter, glowy look, I love using the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. There are two different versions of this CC cream but I use the illuminating formula. This CC Cream is full coverage and is gorgeous!!! My favorite CC cream! It has anti-aging ingredients and SPF 50- skincare and makeup in one.

Step 3: Conceal

I’ve tried a few different concealers, but I always come back to the NARS Creamy Concealer. It always blends nicely and it’s the concealer I’ve found separates and creases the least after several hours. I then dust the CC Undereye Corrector Powder to my under eyes and other areas I’ve concealed, along with the rest of my face.

Step 4: Contour

For the contouring step, I like to use a cream contour. I cannot even tell you what a difference it has made switching from powder products to cream products! If you have more mature or dry skin, cream products are the way to go. They don’t settle into creases in the skin and overall lean into a glowing, natural makeup look. The Fenty Beauty Match Stix is my favorite cream contour since it’s so easy to blend and gives the best sun-kissed look.

Step 5: Blush

My love of cream products extends into blush so I use the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. This blush is super pigmented so you only need a little bit for a gorgeous flush! It comes in a ton of pretty shades I like to mix and match.

Step 6: Highlight

My glowy makeup look isn’t complete without a little highlighter! I like to use this Ilia Serum Highlighter on my cheekbones, nose, and other areas I want to bring a little extra radiance to. I love this highlighter by Ilia because it’s light and looks super natural!

Step 7: Eyeshadow

For my eyes, I first prep with the Urban Decay Primer first which makes my eyeshadow stay on all day and eliminates separating and creasing. I like to keep things natural and so I blend a few of the light colors on this Tarte Tartlette Eyeshadow Palette. This eyeshadow palette has the prettiest neutral colors that you can easily mix for different day or night looks! It’s super affordable at $45 and has lasted me forever.

Step 8: Brows

I know some people like to do their brows at different steps during their makeup routine and for me, it typically changes depending on what I’m feeling like that day. For this summer glow look, I only use the Charlotte Tilbury Tinted Eyebrow Gel (no pencil) for a super quick eyebrow situation. This gel shapes my eyebrows and gives them a little tint that lasts all day!

Step 9: Set

To finish everything off I set my makeup with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dewy Setting Spray. This is key to giving my makeup that overall glow AND it helps it stick all day long!! If you have oily skin and are worried about too much shine as the day progresses, try a matte setting spray instead.
