There’s something about a denim skirt that screams summer, amirite? It definitely brings back memories of pool-side barbecues, hot summer nights, and my first Zima (ha). Goodness, the denim skirt has come a long way since the 90’s. But it is still as effortless, yet stylish, as ever. And the best part about this post? I am showing you 5 denim skirts under $100.

TOPS TO WEAR WITH JEAN SKIRTS
Jean skirts are the epitome of cool. So, when I imagine jean skirts outfits – I love leaning into the cool edgy factor and taking it one step further. Here are some top ideas to wear with jean skirts:
Rocker tee:
Like I said, I like to lean into the cool. So, what better way to do that than with a rocker tee? Grab your fav band tee, a statement belt, and your white sneaks and you have a rocker chic outfit like no other. Top it off with a jean or leather jacket. Oh, and your aviator shades. This outfit works for lightly washed and dark washes alike.
Crop top & leather jacket:
Don’t be afraid to show some skin! Pair your black or blue jean skirt with a white crop top and a black leather jacket for a chic edgy look. Top the look of with your fav white sneaks and a cute headband.
Oversized button-down:
The combination of an oversized button and denim skirt gives me all the preppy collegiate vibes. Depending on the occasion, you can tie the bottom and show some skin, rock a half-tuck for extra dimension, or do a full-tuck with a statement belt. A plain white button up is the perfect excuse to create a Risky Business inspired look and when it comes to denim – you simply can’t wrong with stripes or gingham. Pair with sneakers or sandals.
Chunky sweater:
Easily elevate any denim skirt with a chunky sweater, another piece I consider an absolute wardrobe staple. Perfect for that transitional weather between winter and spring. For an easy black denim skirt outfit, pair with a neutral chunky sweater, ankle boots, sheer tights, and silver accessories. A simple chic streetwear look. Or, if you’re ready to show off your legs – grab a bright, fun, and whimsical chunky knit and welcome the warm weather.
Denim on denim:
Looking for a trendy way to style your denim mini skirt? Look no further than your fav denim jacket. Yes, denim on denim is in. Grab a solid top, a statement belt & handbag, a headband, and knee high boots for a modern chic look.
Solid turtleneck and trench coat:
If you’re rocking a longer denim skirt like a pencil or midi-skirt for fall or winter, consider a tight-fit turtleneck or turtleneck bodysuit. The slimming effect of the turtleneck will perfectly balance the chunky denim on the bottom creating a *chefs kiss* casual brunch outfit. A high-quality trench coat will further elevate the look.

WORKWEAR
I’m living for this edgy workwear outfit. The perfect combination of trendy and chic. You can shop the look HERE, but most of the items only have a few sized left so run don’t walk to snatch them up!
Still, recreating this outfit is super easy. Start with a black and white patterned top. Bold, but not too bold. Make sure it has some flare to it like the one I’m featuring above. By flare I mean the extra details of the peephole neckline and the flare sleeves. (I love the drama this shirt gives!)
Then, grab your black midi-length denim skirt. When searching for black denim skirts for this outfit, you want to make sure the denim is actually black, and not just a very faded blue. This will keep everything professional work-ready. You can rock a slit like I did or opt for a more modest look without.
Finish off the look with a statement belt with a silver buckle and black suede knee-high boots. I chose suede to make sure I included various textures. Denim, sheer, leather, and suede. When it comes to styling anything, the more textures the more expensive your outfit looks. (It’s true!!!) Just add some silver accessories and you’re ready to take on whatever the workday brings.
WHAT I’M WEARING
J.CREW BERRY KNIT SHIRT // LEVI’S RE/Done DENIM SKIRT // STELLA MCCARTNEY FOLD OVER TOTE // GOLDEN GOOSE SPARKLE SNEAKERS // PRADA BLACK CAT EYE SUNGLASSES // SILK SCARF
So cute and simple, and so easy to recreate. Start with your denim skirt. I loved styling this light-wash mini skirt but you can also mix things up with a white, black, or dark blue denim skirt.
Next, choose your tee. You can go rocker, chic, simple, bright, girly – whatever truly expresses your style. As you can see, there is tons of room for versatility here. You can also mix up your necklines to show off some of your fav accessories and mix up the length of your skirt to create definition and balance in your outfit.
Finally, add a matching handbag and white sneaks are you’re ready to take on anything from shopping to brunch with the girls to the Farmer’s Market.
