Over the past 8 days, I have been self-reflecting, taking inventory of my thoughts, and looking myself in the mirror and asking “how can I do better?” I realized very quickly that I have not done enough to support Black-owned fashion brands on this site and through my own personal shopping recommendations. And that ends right now.
I am very ashamed of this and promise to do better. To be better. To be more inclusive of the brands I support and feature. It is WAY past the time for ALL of us to be more mindful about where we spend our money and what brands and businesses we support..
Obviously, I have a long way to go. And this post is barely scratching the surface. But, we have to start somewhere, and now is the time. So, here are some F A B U L O U S Black-owned fashion brands to support now. Make sure you follow along on Instagram, as I will be featuring different categories of Black-owned shops, influencers, and local businesses over the coming weeks.
Please leave a comment below sharing additional Black-owned businesses for us to share in our next roundup!
CUSHNIE
One of my favorite luxury, ready to wear brands, I’ve worn several pieces to events over the past few years. Started by the BEAUTIFUL Carly Cushnie (#momgoals by the way), it was founded on the desire to serve the modern woman. Artfully crafted with clean, sculptural lines, the CUSHNIE collection is precisely tailored to achieve the perfect fit for the female form. Treat yoself ladies, because these pieces will make you feel oh so beautiful.
Yes, her pieces are pretty pricey, BUT I have GREAT news. The Cushnie for Target collab drops JUNE 6th!! Turn on notifications for my Instagram stories, so you don’t miss my picks! Also, remember my AMAZING flare pants that I have worn to NYFW several times? She has an almost identical pair of navy flare pants that are on sale.
MONROW
MONROWE is another fashion brand that I love and support, yet had no idea it was black-owned. I promise to do better, educate myself more, and share my findings with you. These hats are INSANELY gorgeous. I just ordered the Lady O, originally created personally for Oprah. SWOON.
BROTHER VELLIES
BROTHER VELLIES-Designed in Brooklyn, these one of a kind artisanal pieces will be in your closet forever. Not only will you stand out amongst the crowd, you are supporting a brand that celebrates cultural histories and timeless design. These adorable platform sandals are 30% off on Shopbop right now!
JADE SWIM
JADE-I am OBSESSED with these swimsuits. They give me Hunza G vibes but with a more modern silhouette. This one-shoulder suit is giving me ALL the feels.
FE NOEL
FE NOEL-Y A L L. Vibrant and high-fashion, these pieces are insanely beautiful. I need this puff-sleeved top in my life ASAP. Also, how amazing would this swimsuit look with these high-waisted sheer pants? I love her tagline on Insta: Eat Well, Travel Often, and Dress to Inspire! I feel like that sums Life Lutzurious up perfectly.
HANIFA
HANIFA– I have 3 words for you: this denim jumpsuit. If that doesn’t have Lindsey written all over it…
HOPE FOR FLOWERS
TRACY REESE/Hope for Flowers-You guys are probably pretty familiar with this brand. I have covered her during past Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts. Her mission is simple: to make women feel beautiful. Many of you may have noticed she has been pretty quiet the past couple of years. During this time, she was business launching her sustainable brand Hope for Flowers. I LOVE this striped top and can’t wait to wear it this summer.
ROMY STUDIO
ROMY STUDIO-Based DC, Camille creates the most beautiful modern + minimalist statement earrings. I am OBSESSED and just ordered these hoops in French Rose. Aren’t they so cute?
SINCERELY TOMMY
SINCERELY TOMMY-This brand is a Brooklyn-based lifestyle store with an in-house coffee bar. They focus on emerging brands and community. I just ordered these chunky, Vegan slides in brown for summer. They are priced so well and will literally go with everything.
UNDRA CELESTE NEW YORK
UNDRA CELESTE-She designs the most swoon-worthy workwear that is polished, timeless and strong; yet fun and bold with a hint of sexy. She also focuses on elevated basics, such as these linen pants . However, two of my favorite pieces are these gold paperbag pants or this ivory Herringbone mini-skirt.
