NSALE 2016 | SPLURGE OR SAVE

SHOP THE POST SAVE
Happy Monday guys! Now that we are 3 days into Early Access of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, here is my SPLURGE or SAVE, NSALE 2016 edition. I am showing you where to SAVE and where to SPLURGE. I mean, Stuart Weitzman boots for less than $500? I. Die. Remember cost per wear! Some of the more expensive items have deeper discounts and tend to last longer due to the higher quality. Would you rather wear a pair of $50 boots once or a pair of $300 boots 50 times? You do the math.
Last night, Ryan and I kicked off my birthday week! YAY! I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my 25th birthday tomorrow. Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about this one. I have absolutely LOOOOOVED my 30’s, but I feel a little different this year. Normally, I would have dinners and brunches and happy hours planned, but I really just haven’t been in the mood. Maybe it’s 35 or maybe it’s having soooo much going on. I’m sure once Tuesday rolls around, I will be ready to celebrate! But until then, it’s business aka adulting as usual (insert eye roll).
TRENDS: SPLURGE OR SAVE
So, let’s talk about this SPLURGE vs SAVE for a few minutes. Typically, I would not SPLURGE on super trendy items. However, you really have to determine the staying power of a specific trend. For example, Over the Knee boots were very trendy a few years ago, but they have MORE than held their own. This is an item I typically SPLURGE on, as long as I choose a basic color and fabric. What about fringe? Goodness, FRINGE has been and WILL continue to be huge. I would purchase a mix of SPLURGE and SAVE items. Black or camel fringe has a lot more staying power than hot pink. I am more than happy to help you out, but typically, you can look at runway shows to see what will be in style for the upcoming seasons.
Here are the some of this year’s HOTTEST trends and whether to SPLURGE OR SAVE.
BOMBER JACKET: I vote SAVE here. Even the less expensive ones are super cute, and I am not sure you really get bang for your buck by dropping several hundred dollars on an expensive piece. I am OBSESSED with the TopShop Camo Bomber shown in the image above. I mean, SWOON. Even better…the price is only $73 during the Anniversary Sale.
OVER THE KNEE BOOTS: You can SPLURGE or SAVE for this item. I linked both the Stuart Weitzman’s (40% off and less than $500. AND the Steve Madden’s, because they are both that cute. I will be honest with you, I own two pairs of Stuart Weitzman boots, and just bought the ones listed in the image above. I have LIVED in both pairs over the past few years. I take care of them, and they last year over year. Check out my post featuring my black OTK Stuart Weitzman All Legs and my post featuring my gray Stuart Weitzman Highland boots to get an idea of how versatile they really can be. But if you are looking for a STEAL, the Madden’s are less than $100.
BUCKET BAG: Normally, I would say SPLURGE on a black, leather bag. But HOW AMAZING is this Street Level bag? You cannot go wrong for $32. Now, THE IT BAG of this sale is the Rebecca Minkoff Vanity Saddle bag. Seriously, this one is selling out quickly and is worth the SPLURGE at only $250.
SLEEVELESS VEST: Honestly, why splurge when the save looks THIS great and is ONLY $59? I ordered both, so I will let you know how the quality compares between the Halogen Waterfall versus the Rag & Bone. They are both amazing from the pictures!
LACE UP FLATS: Again, this is one I would NORMALLY recommend splurging on, but these Halogen lace up flats are ah-dorbs and are only $60!! If you can afford the splurge, I absolutely love the red Stuart Weitzmans for less than $250. Yes, you read that correctly. That is an amazing price for his shoes and remember, price per wear.
SNEAKERS: Y’all, yes, I am OBSESSED with my YSL star sneakers. However, if you don’t buy these Adidas Superstars, you are crazy. They are LESS THAN $60, super trendy, and look absolutely presh. And guess what? Asher wears them, so you know they are cool.
SUNNIES: I actually own the Illesteva’s shown above and ABSOLUTELY ADORE them. They are so so so cute. I realize they are still somewhat expensive but $173 is an awesome price, considering these are close to $300 full price. Now, let’s talk about the Dior So Real sunglasses. These are THE HOTTEST sunnies of the year, but they are normally $600. There is NO WAY IN HELL I would ever pay $600 for a pair of sunglasses. That’s just cray. However, these are on sale for $350!!!!! I DIE. These are on my birthday list, so I am hoping and praying. If you can afford them, BUY THEM.
