For the last several weeks I’ve been traveling a TON, from our family vacay to Portugal to the non-stop work trips, I feel like I’ve spent lots of time in the airport lately. Since I travel for work so frequently, I’ve become a bit of an airport pro and have developed some travel tips over the years that are game-changers for me! I know many of you ladies are headed out on some travel yourself soon, so I thought it was the perfect time to share my top travel tips. I’m finally home and settled after lots of travel time so let’s jump into allllll the travel tips plus my recent favorite travel items I always bring along with me.
Opt for Chic and Comfortable Airport Attire
Your travel day ensemble sets the tone for your journey, so choose pieces that strike the perfect balance between style and comfort. A well-fitted pair of leggings or stylish yet comfy joggers paired with a cozy oversized sweater or a loose maxi dress with a denim jacket are some of my fave options. When it comes to shoes, I usually opt for a cute pair of sneakers I can easily slip on and off, but if you don’t mind being barefoot through security, a chic pair of slides will do! I always like to be comfortable but still look put together when I travel in case I decide to head somewhere from the airport, unless it’s a red-eye flight… then all bets are off 😉
Invest in a Quality Carry-On
A carry-on bag is a travel essential that you’ll always use, so invest in something high-quality. Although a little more expensive, the investment is totally worth it since your carry-on will last much longer. It’s not just about the look either, make sure you’re grabbing a piece that has some functionality, too. Look for features like multiple compartments, a padded laptop sleeve, and a durable yet lightweight construction to keep your essentials organized and easily accessible throughout your journey.
Pack Plane Accessories
The key to actually enjoying a flight is being properly entertained and comfortable! Whether you’re in first class or coach, having the proper plane and travel accessories will make your flight experience so much better. Things like this luggage cup holder and Bluetooth transmitter for headphones are my latest favorites, but find all of my go-to travel accessories at the bottom of this post!
Hydrate and Nourish On-the-Go
Traveling can be dehydrating, so it’s essential to stay hydrated and nourished throughout your journey! I like to pack a reusable water bottle and refill it at water stations throughout the airport so I don’t spend a ton of money on overpriced water bottles. Healthy snacks are also a must when you’re frequently traveling, and if I have the time, I’ll pack my own! Things like nuts, dried fruits, and protein bars are always great to have and will actually keep you full through long travel hours. If you don’t have time to pack your own, you can always purchase them at the airport. I’ve also seen people pack full-on charcuterie boards before, so don’t be afraid to bring your own food!
Layering is Key
Traveling often means fluctuating temperatures, so layering is essential… it’s always cold on the plane! Pack lightweight pieces that can be easily layered for warmth or removed when you get hot. A stylish scarf or shawl not only adds a chic touch to your ensemble but also doubles as a cozy blanket during long flights 😉
Embrace Effortless Beauty
Traveling can take a toll on your skin, so keep your beauty routine simple yet effective. I always go for my multi-tasking skincare products that hydrate, protect, and rejuvenate my tired skin after lots of traveling. When it comes to makeup, opt for a natural, glowing makeup look that enhances your features without feeling heavy or overdone, or skip the makeup altogether. And don’t forget to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest—after all, beauty starts from within!!
