It was early Wednesday morning around 4am. I couldn’t sleep. The gravity of everything going on was simply wearing on me. I knew I wanted to help the people that were fighting for our health and safety…but I didn’t know how. I started scrolling Twitter and Instagram, looking for ideas. And I asked myself, “what was something simple that would make my day if I was on the frontline of all of this?” FOOD. The simple answer was FOOD.
I continued scrolling Instagram, searching hashtags left and right. THEN, I ran across my friend @joyfullygreen’s Instagram. She had just fed 50 healthcare workers at her local hospital. I immediately reached out to her for details.
As soon as I got out of bed, I hopped on Instagram Stories to talk about my idea. I was thinking just MAYBE I could raise a few hundred dollars to feed a few of the heathcare heroes working the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. Boy was I wrong…
A few hours later, I had a logo, a tagline, a mission statement, a goal, a team of AMAZING volunteers ready to drop everything to help, and HUNDREDS of people wanting to contribute. And that’s how Frontline Heroes emerged.
OUR HEROES WEAR SCRUBS
Our mission at Frontline Heroes is to feed our healthcare providers, nurses, and support staff, who are risking their lives each and every day to protect the health and safety of our beloved Birmingham community.
#GOALS
Our goal is to serve 1400 meals in the first week to the frontline healthcare workers fighting the COVID-19 pandemic at Birmingham-area hospitals.
A GOAL WITHOUT A PLAN IS JUST A WISH
Our plan is to raise money and collect donations via Venmo @frontlineheroes to purchase meals via our Birmingham area restaurant partnerships.
FIT FIVE MEALS
Fit Five Meals is our first partner and has agreed to provide the meals at cost for our first round going to the COVID-19 floor at UAB Highlands and UAB Main on Monday, March 30th. More local partnerships to come!

PARTNERSHIPS
The group found it imperative to partner with Birmingham area restaurants to support our local establishments that have helped shape where our city is today. This enables us to support our food and beverage industry and the hard working men and women that they employ. As a way of giving back themselves, restaurants are donating a portion of meals and providing a discounted price for the meals purchased with donations collected. These partnerships will help stretch donations even further to feed more Frontline Heroes. HUGE shoutout to Battle Republic for being our first corporate sponsor!
